Roof Lanterns for Clitheroe Homes

Roof lanterns are one of the most modern roof systems we install in Whalley and Clitheroe. They are the default option available with our Ultraframe Lantern Orangeries, having been specifically engineered for flat roofs. These pitched roofs come with an ultra slimline frame and the most innovative double glazing. The result is a lantern roof that delivers performance levels that vastly exceed the industry standard.

Designed by Ultraframe UK Ltd, the industry leaders, these roof lanterns offer excellent thermal efficiency and complete weatherproofing. What’s more, the design uses as few bars as possible, allowing the maximum amount of natural light to filter into the orangery or extension below. With this, your whole home will feel brighter, warmer and better connected to your outdoor space.

In addition to installing them on top of stunning new orangeries, our roof lanterns are also available retrofitted through our roof replacement service. With this, you can have an existing orangery or extension fitted with a new roof system, regardless of who installed the original build. Doing this can give an older orangery a new lease of life, allowing for year round use once again.

Can roof lanterns be fitted to conservatories?

Roof lanterns are designed to fit with flat-roofed extensions and are thus better suited to orangeries. Although different visually, roof lanterns serve a similar purpose to our glass conservatory roofs. Therefore, if you’re having a conservatory installed and are looking for roof lantern style benefits, a glass conservatory roof is the answer.

How long to roof lanterns take to install?

As with our other roof systems, roof lanterns can be installed in around a week. However, the overall installation time varies on the size of the project. If you’re having an entire orangery fitted, the fitting will take around three months on average. A replacement roof fitting is significantly shorter than that. If you’d like to get an idea tailored to the needs of your home, contact us today.

Do you need planning permission for orangeries?

Orangeries are a permitted development. As a result, they are granted planning permission as standard, so long as the dimensions of the build adheres to the latest regulations. However, the same rules don’t always apply for older properties and those in conservation areas. In this instance, you may need to go through the planning permission process. Whatever style of home you live in, we recommend you talk with your local building authorities as a matter of protocol.

Where can roof lanterns be fitted?

Roof lanterns are almost exclusively fitted to orangeries. They are, in part, what allows orangeries to act as the perfect middle-ground between an airy conservatory and a house extension. However, they can also be fitted to just about any flat-roofed area within the home.
