Finalists in the Ribble Valley Business Awards and winning the Elite Best Double Glazing Specialist Award Lancashire, Whalley Home Improvements are celebrating their first birthday.

“It’s been an incredible year!” says Emma Hodgkinson, who co-founded the business last year with partner Graham Fielden, of long-established joiners Frank Fielden and Son.

“We have been consistently busy, which is fantastic and it was a bonus to be nominated for the awards, especially in our first year in business. We have a great team and customer service is at the heart of everything we do,” adds Emma, who has many years’ experience in the industry, having worked for world-leading manufacturer Ultraframe in Clitheroe.

Working alongside leading manufacturers of doors, windows and roof systems, Whalley Home Improvements offers the best in window and door fitting, and building construction with a full project management service.

“We are finding that many people are looking to replace old polycarbonate roofs on their conservatory for a solid roof.”

With a skilled team of experienced builders, fitters, craftsmen and professionals, Whalley Home Improvements work with a number of highly respected products including Ultraframe’s globally renowned roof system as well as being a trusted installer for Rockdoor.

Fully CORGI Fenestration accredited for window and door installation, Whalley Home Improvements also works with the new generation of Timberlook sash windows and the Signature Collection, which comes with a 10-year warranty, offering full insurance on all the components and parts that often don’t come with a guarantee.

Working with a number of exclusive suppliers means the company can offer doors and windows in UPVC, timber and aluminium in a wide range of beautiful heritage colours and styles.

The team works on projects such as orangery construction, extensions, replacing conservatory roofs, and fitting windows and doors of all different styles and materials. They have also worked on listed buildings, which required bespoke wooden windows and doors, as well as building modern home extensions – the team will oversee any project from conception to completion!

“We have a really experienced, skilled team here at Whalley Home Improvements and they are extremely familiar with products manufactured by the likes of Ultraframe and Rockdoor,” explains Emma.

Over the past year, Whalley Home Improvements has worked on a variety of different projects throughout the region including fitting bi-fold doors to open up a beautiful kitchen, fitting a new roof and double doors to a conservatory and constructing numerous single storey extensions to create stunning living spaces.

“It’s been an incredible year! We have been consistently busy, which is fantastic.”

They also replaced a polycarbonate roof on a conservatory that was too cold to use in winter and too warm in summer. Replacing it with a tiled roof and two glass panels to make it light and airy, the owners were delighted with their new-look conservatory that can now be used all year round.

Emma adds: “This dilemma is fairly typical. Many homeowners find that the temperature varies too much with the old-style polycarbonate roof – the latest Ultraframe roof system provides a perfect solution to this.”

From initial contact to final fitting, the experienced, knowledgeable team makes sure all projects are finished to the highest of standards and that customers are fully satisfied.

Co-ordinating each project is Bev Lea, who ensures all the work is carried out to plan. When a project first begins, she will commission one of the company’s technical surveyors, either Brian Clews or Mike Taylor, who have many years’ experience in the trade – they will measure up the project. The order will be placed by Ross Kilmister and delivery dates confirmed, then Bev will organise a fit date, selecting individual tradesmen to work on the scheme.

“It is essential that we meticulously plan every project so that everything runs smoothly for our customers,” says Emma. “Partnering with leading suppliers and having a highly skilled team is a winning combination in terms of quality and customer service.”
